As you get older, oral care is essential for adults. The following are some of the conditions that need attention:

Gingival disease-If your home care routine (brushing and flossing) is interrupted and you don't wash your teeth regularly, plaque and tartar build up on your teeth. If left alone, these plaque and tartar will eventually cause irreparable damage to your mandible and supporting structure and cause tooth loss.
Oral cancer-According to the National Institute of Oral and Craniofacial Research, men over 40 are most at risk for oral cancer. About 43,000 people have been diagnosed with cancer of the mouth, tongue or throat, and the American Chemical Society (ACS) predicts that about 7,000 people will die from these cancers. The use of tobacco products and drinking increases the risk of oral cancer. Most oral cancers are diagnosed first by a dentist during a routine oral examination.
Decomposition of dental fillings-The expected life of dental fillings is 8 to 10 years. However, with proper care, it can last for 20 years or more. When the filler in the mouth starts to break down, food will accumulate under it, and bacteria will breed, which will cause dental caries deep in the teeth.
